When I started out in the professional world in Germany after studying statistics in the UK, I created the French blog sasreference.fr to share my discoveries about the SAS programming language.
10 Years Later
10 years later, I decided to leave my comfortable job in clinical research to help SAS users to evolve in a permanently changing world.
My Mission
My mission: to give SAS users access to clear and to-the-point information for them to deliver in a timely and accurately manner, for them to be proud of their work.
2017, Company Creation
And for that I founded my company xxformat in January 2017.
Why xxformat as name? When I think about format I think about:
- Formatting a computer
- SAS format
In other words, you are free to reformat your brain, begin a brand-new start accessible decoded information in order to build strong foundations. For example, WeCode Companion do not expect any previous programming or statistical knowledge.
xxformat logo sounds familiar to you?
If you’re in your 70s, 80s or 90s, chances are you’ve already played Tetris.
xxformat is like Tetris. It helps its customers combine blocks of knowledge to solve problems. That’s the metaphor.
MailLib
My first big project was to create 260 exercises to be sent by email, so that you can (re)discover practical capsules every day from Monday to Friday in your inbox, for a year. It took 2 years to create them.
Nowadays, you can test a MailLib series of 15 exercises for free. And if you enjoy the experience, an additional 18 exercises are available. Some new series shall be released in 2025.
The price remained stable over time: 1 exercise = 1 credit = 1 euro ex-VAT/pers. Easy to remember, isn’t it ?
WeCode Companion
Decembre 2017, I had my first lesson with Aïcha. Aïcha is planning to become a data manger and volunteered to become my first student to create what would become WeCode Companion.
WeCode Companion presents in a structured manner illustrated, commented and reproducible examples to help SAS users in their data engineering and reporting activities.
The first version had 300 pages. Today, WeCode Companion has 16 modules, over 1400 pages of content and 150 videos/11h on three core modules: sql proc, macro language and reporting.
But I’ve only written 50% of what I want to share with you!
GoGoGraph Premium
Last summer, I decided to run +++ workshops on graphics for SAS users to be able to customize their output following a clear path.
That’s when Omprakash, Christine, Carl, Jan and many others volunteered to test the beta version in their spare time. Thanks guys.
We tested both content and logistic and fine-tuning the offer:
- We tested online or face-to-face
- Some volunteers were based in Europe, others in the USA
- They had different backgrounds. They were either programmers or biostatisticians.
Thanks to them, GoGoGraph became GoGoGraph Premium.
